Plex Pass Can Change Everything About How You Stream Movies – Get the Black Friday Sale for 40% Off
Plex is the most powerful streaming service you’ve never heard of.
You can stream and share any movies, TV, home movies, or music from your hard drive and share all of it with friends in a completely private system. You can use it to find where your favorite movies and shows are streaming. It’s super-powerful, and right now, you can grab it for 40% off until Dec. 1.
$6.99/mo.
The remarkable thing about this discount is that it applies to Plex, whether you sign up for one month, one year, or a lifetime. It may seem crazy, but getting the lifetime deal for $149.99 could be one of the best investments you ever make. I bought it years ago and I use it every single day.
What Is Plex?
Plex is so many things, it’s hard to describe. But here are my favorite features:
- Play and share any movies, shows, or music from your computer’s hard drive
- Watch free ad-supported movies and shows
- Pick up the right hardware and you can record live TV to your computer for free
- Find where any movie or show is streaming and launch from within Plex
- Enjoy movies, shows, or music your friends share with you
In order to share your media with friends or family, you need Plex Pass. That’s why the lifetime deal makes the most sense.

Can You Watch Plex for Free?

Yes, you can get started for free. The coolest features are reserved for paid subscribers, but you still get a ton of value for free.
Watch 600+ free channels like ION, CNN Headlines, Fox Weather, Britbox Mysteries, The Carol Burnett Show, Hallmark Movies & More, MythBusters, Barney and Friends, Power Rangers, American Gladiators, BBC Food, NFL Channel, MSG SportsZone, and more.
There are free movies like “Warrior,” “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” “Scary Movie 4,” “Arlington Road,” “Out of the Furnace,” “Snowpiercer,” and “Ender’s Game.”
Watch free TV like “Weeds,” “Mad Men,” “Nash Bridges,” “Falcon Crest,” “Perfect Strangers,” “Growing Pains,” “The Drew Carey Show,” and “Knots Landing.”
How Do I Stream Media From My Computer?
Download the Plex Media Server app to your computer, open the settings, and tell it where to find the folders with your movies, TV shows, and music.
Then add the Plex app to your smart TVs, streaming devices, phones, and tablets, and you can stream anything from your computer wherever you are. It’s like making your own private Netflix.
I also use this to watch my home movies. YouTube always slaps a copyright strike on me if I have any music playing in the background. That’s not a problem with Plex. If you upgrade to the paid verison of Plex, you can share those files with friends or family.
With the paid version of Plex, you can download these movies and shows to enjoy offline.
Stream Music with PlexAmp
Got any mp3s lying around on your hard drive? Stream them or download them to your phone with PlexAmp! I created custom playlists for my kids to listen to in the car and for me when I go for a run.
How Do I Record Live TV with Plex?

You will need the Plex Pass to access this feature, so jump on that 40% off deal. This takes a few minutes of setup, but it’s totally worth it. First, get an antenna.

Channel Master FLATenna
Use this great indoor antenna to pick up free HD and digital signals with a 35-mile range. Watch ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS, and more for free forever!
Next, get a HDHomeRun. Here’s the one I use.

HDHomeRun Flex Duo 2
Stream your antenna wirelessly to 2 devices at once! Use this device so Plex Pass can access and record any live TV signal you can get with your antenna.
Plug the antenna into the HDHomeRun, then plug the HDHomeRun into your router or Wi-Fi extender.
Then tell Plex to scan for your antenna signal (follow this guide) and it will add all your available channels to the guide.
Once the channels are added to the guide, you can record live TV to your computer and play it back through Plex! Plex also allows you to skip the intros, skip commercials, or delete commercials automatically.
I’ve included a walkthrough video below if you’d like to know more.
How Does Plex Work With Other Streamers?

When you set it up, tell Plex which other streaming services you subscribe to. From then on, when you search for a title in Plex, the software will tell you where it’s available. If the title is available on your services, Plex can take you directly there without having to go back to your home screen, launch the other app, and search for it.
Why Plex is Great for Parents
My kids love to watch TV on Saturday mornings, but it’s sometimes hard to keep a lid on which titles they have access to. With Plex, I can create their own profile and decide which movies and shows they have access to.
Having ripped my DVDs of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to my hard drive, I let my kids rewatch any movies we’ve seen together, but I don’t want them jumping ahead of where we are in the saga. I simply add a “label” to any content my kids are allowed to see and it appears in their profile. It’s the ultimate in parental control.
Why You Should Jump on This Deal
Plex has paid for itself a million times over since I first bought my lifetime pass several years ago. It brings order to the chaos of streaming. I love being able to share videos with my family and friends without running into YouTube’s irritating copyright strikes when music is playing in the background.
Plex is flexible and powerful and remarkably fun.
