YouTube TV Set to Launch Customizable Multiview

Ready to choose your multivew setup? Today, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced the company will soon launch a fully customizable multivew option for its live TV subscribers.

Building on our success in the living room, we’re driven by the simple belief that TV should be easy. We’ll soon launch fully customizable multiview and more than 10 specialized YouTube TV plans spanning sports, entertainment and news, all designed to give subscribers more control.

YouTube has become the single best destination for viewers who want limitless ways to watch, and we’re proud to build that very best experience for the next generation.

$82.99/mo.

Multiview is nothing new for live TV streamers. YouTube TV already offers preset multiview lineups. So does DIRECTV. The problem is that the channels aren’t always what you want. Choosing a “news” multiview on these platforms almost always includes Fox News Channel, which is more opinion than news. There’s no way to remove a channel from the preset multiview options.

Fubo as offered a fully customizable multiview for Apple TV users, but it crashes frequently when I’ve used it. ESPN’s app also allows you to choose the games in its multiview, but it’s limited to sports.

And my dearly departed PlayStation Vue offered customizable multicast until it shut down in 2020. It’s frankly crazy that it’s taking this long to roll out this feature to every live TV platform.
