YouTube TV Exec: Sports Package Will Cost $64.99

If you’re looking for some relief on your streaming bill, YouTube TV’s long-awaited cheaper bundles are on their way, and now we know how much at least one of those options will cost.

Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw interviewed Christian Oestlien, Vice President of YouTube’s Subscriptions Products. When asked if the price would be attractive, Oestlien replied, “$64.99 is a pretty compelling price point.”

He outlined that the sports package would have all the major broadcast partners. “And we’re pulling a lot of the content that had been made exclusive to their [streaming] services into YouTube TV,” Oestlien said. “NBC is relaunching the NBC Sports Network with us. We’re going to be pulling in the entirety of the sports content that sits within ESPN Unlimited.”

NBC Sports Network will have just about all the sports that air on Peacock, including the NBA.

We know there will be 10+ YouTube TV bundles altogether. “They’ll be based on three main categories – sports, news, and entertainment,” Oestlien said. “And you’ll be able to buy each one of those plans individually. One of the things that’s exciting about this is finally being able to deliver a standalone sports plan.”

What Other Services Offer Less Expensive Channel Bundles?

While Hulu + Live TV, Philo, and Frndly TV don’t give you an option on your main channel package, most live TV providers do.

DIRECTV

My favorite option at the moment is DIRECTV. It has 3 packages under $40. Sports drives the price up, but $69.99 is respectable. It’s possible the company lowers this price to battle YouTube TV when those packages come online.

Sling TV

Sling TV is a great option if you’re willing to narrow your viewing choices. It has several inexpensive packages, including the rock-bottom Sling Select ($19.99). Even better, Sling gives you the choice of narrowing the duration of your subscription. Pay for one week, 48 hours, or just one day!

Fubo

Fubo suffered a significant setback when it lost NBC and its sister channels. That may make it a dealbreaker for most TV fans, but the Fubo Sports package is a steep discount over the normal price.
