It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer! And now you can rent or own “Superman.”

The rental is $17.99, but you can own it forever for $22.99. With the rental, you’ll have 48 hours to watch it once you press play for the first time.

James Gunn wrote and directed the movie, intended to kick off a new wave of DC Comics films. The movie had the third biggest box office haul in the U.S., behind only “A Minecraft Movie” and the remake of “Lilo & Stitch.”

What is ‘Superman’ About?

The movie skips the origin story and jumps straight into the thick of Superman lore. Lois knows Clark Kent is Superman and they’re dating. Superman faces a team of superpowered enemies following the orders of Lex Luthor.

Luthor makes a discovery that turns the people of Earth against the last son of Krypton. Superman finds himself in a scary situation, but his friends are ready to ride to the rescue.

In the end, Superman will need all his wits and courage (and his super dog) to defeat Luthor and his goons.

It’s a breezy, feel-good superhero antidote to the unrelenting darkness of some recent superhero adventures.

Should You Buy or Rent ‘Superman’?

The movie is a real crowd-pleaser, especially if you love dogs. The movie is 83% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with 91% on their Popcornmeter. Its Metacritic score is 68 with a user score of 7.4.

I’m pretty fatigued with superhero movies, but Superman was fun and felt like something new in an often-stale genre.
