Apple TV+ Raises Price by 30%

Apple TV+ has been on a great run of original content over the last few years. Now, the streaming service is getting a bigger price tag. Apple TV+ now costs $12.99/month, a $3 monthly increase.

If you act quickly, Amazon’s Prime Video still has it listed for $9.99/month. It may take a few days before the price increase hits there.

While we never like to see streaming prices increase, at least Apple TV+ remains ad-free. That price is low, compared to most other ad-free plans like Netflix ($17.99), Disney+ ($15.99) HBO Max ($16.99), Hulu ($18.99), Peacock ($16.99). This move does price it above ad-free Prime Video ($11.99), however.

Apple TV+ last raised its prices less than two years ago when the service went from $6.99 to $9.99.

Should You Subscribe to Apple TV+?

It’s a service I enjoy. The original series are always very well done. Nothing looks cheap or poorly planned. It has a strong lineup of sci-fi series with excellent CGI and high-quality performances. Apple TV+ feels a little like HBO used to in its heyday.

The big issue with Apple TV+ is that it isn’t generating enough new content to merit an annual subscription. It’s the kind of service that’s worth bingeing for a month and then pausing while the content library reloads.
