YouTube TV Strikes Short-Term Deal to Keep Fox Stations On the Air

In typical fashion, the game of chicken between a TV network group and a distributor has been put on ice. Fox and YouTube TV struck a short-term deal to keep their existing terms in place. The two sides will continue negotiating, but YouTube TV subscribers will still have access to FOX, Fox News Channel, Big Ten Network, FS1, and more.

The temporary truce comes the same day YouTube TV began setting up its right-wing backup plan by locking down an agreement with OAN. YouTube TV will begin carrying the fascist cheerleader channel sometime before the end of 2025.

What Happens Next?

If history is any indication, the two sides will find an agreement and subscribers won’t be affected. These squabbles happen nearly every year as station groups with NFL rights try to squeeze live TV providers for more money.

Such standoffs usually result in a short-term disruption, but customers usually miss a maximum of one week of football.

On rare occasions, the battle drags on longer, but Fox wants YouTube TV’s 9.5 million customers and YouTube TV doesn’t want to lose folks to Fox One or a multi-channel competitor.

I expect YouTube TV and Fox will hammer out a long-term deal soon, but YouTube TV subscribers may see a price increase early next year to compensate.
