Sling Select Now Offers 47-Channel ‘Total TV’ Add-on for $21

Sling TV launched its $19.99 Sling Select channel bundle back in August. Now you can amplify that package with Sling’s “Total TV” add-on for another $21/month. That package would add 47 channels to Sling Select’s base of 11-14, depending on your market.

All the Select add-on packages are the same prices as Sling Blue’s add-ons, but they include fewer channels than what those same packages add to Sling Blue.

All subscribers get 11 channels with Sling Select:

• FS1
• MeTV

• Lifetime Movie Network
• VICE

In some markets, the package will include ABC, NBC, and FOX. Users who get two of those channels will pay another $5/month. If you get all three, it’s $10/month.

Is Sling Select Worth It?

I wouldn’t sign up for Sling Select because the channels don’t match my interests. Even where I live, where I can get NBC, ABC, and FOX, the lack of CBS makes it a misfire for me. When you compare the channels, a base package like DIRECTV’s MyEntertainment or MySports makes more sense.

I’ve used Sling in the past, and I think Sling’s Orange + Blue is a fine overall package (minus CBS), but DIRECTV has surpassed it for bargain hunters.

And if you’re really looking to save money, your best move is to get an antenna. Pair it with a HDHomeRun and Plex Pass and then you can stream the antenna channels to any device in your home and record any channel to your computer’s hard drive. That’s the setup I use.
