Apple TV Now Available as Roku Channel Add-On

If you wanted to add Apple TV as a Roku Channel, you now have the option. Deadline was the first to report that Roku fans could add the service.

However, we would recommend you not do that. If you want Apple TV, your best option is to subscribe to it as a standalone service or through Prime Video.

I have a Roku and I enjoy it. I even convinced my in-laws to buy one when their Apple TV remote became a little too difficult to use as they age. But signing up through Roku Channel can sometimes lead to compatibility issues — not every streaming device can access it.

In fact, you can’t watch Roku Channel on an Apple TV device. Perhaps this news suggests that may change soon.

You almost always get a better user interface through an app directly as opposed to running it through another provider’s platform. Some people enjoy having all their content in one place, however.

When you sign up for a service through Roku Channel, Roku gets a cut of the revenue.
