Comcast Screws Chicago Sports Fans Again, Moving Marquee Sports to More Expensive Plan
A little over a month since Comcast Xfinity struck a deal to carry Chicago Sports Network and kill its free antenna signal, the company is spitting in the faces of fans once more. Starting October 1, Marquee Sports Network is going to a more expensive channel package. Xfinity’s Ultimate tier costs $20 more per month. But there’s also a hidden $20.25 regional sports fee for anyone on that plan.
A Comcast spokesperson says, “We will have promotional offers for those who want to continue receiving it after that time.โ The problem with promotional offers is that they end.
The Chicago Tribune reports more than half of Chicago-area Comcast subscribers already pay for the Ultimate tier.
What Are the Other Options for Watching Marquee Sports Network?
Cubs fans have a few options if they’d like to cut the cord.
Marquee’s Streaming App
The most straightforward solution is to choose Marquee Sports Network’s streaming app, which costs $19.99/month without additional fees. Unfortunately, this wouldn’t help with watching the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, or White Sox.
$19.99/mo.
DIRECTV
DIRECTV is a fantastic choice for cord-cutters. The least expensive way to watch would be the MySports package ($69.99) and the MyHome Team add-on ($19.99). That bundle gets you Marquee Sports Network, Chicago Sports Network, and other crucial sports channels like ABC, ESPN, FS1, MLB Network, NBA TV, NBC, NFL Network, NHL Network, TBS, and TNT. It also includes free ESPN+.
Another option is to get the Choice package for $107.98 after a regional sports fee. The Choice bundle includes a huge number of channels for sports, entertainment, and more. Choice includes Marquee Sports Network and Chicago Sports Network. Promotional offers will lower that first month by as much as $30.
$89.98/mo.+
Fubo
I don’t normally recommend Fubo because it’s missing too many important channels, but you can watch Marquee Sports Network on the Pro plan, which is normally $100.98 after a regional sports fee.
$100.98/mo.
