DIRECTV Adds More GCSEN Channels for In-Market New Orleans Pelicans Games
DIRECTV continues to build on the best lineup for sports fans. The live TV streamer just announced expanded access for the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network (GCSEN). The channel will now be available to subscribers in key cities including Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Alexandria, Monroe, and Shreveport in Louisiana; Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Jackson, and Meridian, MS; and Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, AL, and more.
$19.99/mo.+

If you live in these areas, you can also access GCSEN for free with an antenna. But DIRECTV is a good choice if you want lots of channels on one platform or if an antenna won’t work for you. The Pelicans are one of a handful of teams offering their games free over-the-air. The team dumped FanDuel Sports as its broadcasting partner

Importantly, GCSEN only offers Pelicans games when the team plays in New Orleans. NBA games can air on ESPN, ABC, NBA TV, NBC, Peacock, or Prime Video.
In the case of the Pelicans, national games aren’t much of a problem. There are just 4 games on the national stage: 1 on Peacock, 1 on ESPN, and 2 on NBA TV.
For Pelicans away games that aren’t nationally televised, NBA League Pass is your only way to watch.

The NBA, NHL, and MLB are all wrestling with a complex web of broadcasters and streamers. It’s ridiculously complicated to find which games are national, which are regional, and which are out-of-market. Then you need to access the right service provider.
To reduce confusion, the NBA today announced a new feature in the NBA App: “Tap to Watch.” The app will tell you where each game is airing and give you a link to sign up or watch if you’re already subscribed.
