Ewan McGregor’s ‘Long Way Home’ is the New Reality Show You Need to Watch
Looking to escape the drudgery of the news cycle? I’ve got the perfect show to help you relax. Now on Apple TV+, you can stream “Long Way Home,” the latest docuseries featuring Ewan McGregor and his lifelong friend, Charley Boorman. This is the fourth adventure for the pals as they ride motorcycles around the world.
$9.99/mo.
The series started with “Long Way Round” in 2004 when Ewan and Charley rode their bikes through 12 countries from London to New York City. In 2007’s “Long Way Down,” the pair rode from the northern tip of Scotland down to Cape Town in South Africa. The buddies reunited for a 2019 ride in “Long Way Up,” when they used electric motorcycles to go from Ushuaia in Argentina north to Los Angeles.
You can watch all the prior adventures and this new one on Apple TV+. Start streaming with a free trial.
What makes these shows so great is that there are no elimination challenges and no ticking clocks. These are two friends reconnecting through their love of motorcycles and travel. In each country, they show a genuine curiosity about the people and their customs. We see the gorgeous scenery and watch as the guys fix their bikes when they break down.
There’s an intimacy between Ewan and Charley and the show makes you feel like you’re right there with them. You’ll see Ewan navigate the global fame from “Star Wars” in some of the most remote places in the world. The show has been truly life-changing for the guys — in “Long Way Round,” Ewan met a young orphaned girl in Mongolia and later adopted her.
I really love this show. I’ve never seen anything like it. Add it to your watchlist and you won’t be disappointed.
