FanDuel Sports Network to Keep Hawks, Cavs, Heat, T’Wolves and Bucks

That sound you hear is champagne popping in the Main Street Sports Group offices. The company will keep all five NBA teams that could have opted out from FanDuel Sports Network this year. This means FanDuel keeps all 13 of its NBA teams, at least for one more year.

Sports Business Journal reports the contracts for the Bucks, Hawks, Cavaliers, and Heat expired after the regular season and the Timberwolves had the choice to exit their deal early. But all of the teams decided to return for another year.

FanDuel already had another year of rights locked down for the Hornets, Pistons, Pacers, Clippers, Grizzlies, Thunder, Magic and Spurs.

The FanDuel Sports Network channels and streamers have been on a winning streak lately. Thanks to their inclusion on Prime Video, subscriptions soared over the past year, more than doubling to 650,000 subscribers in just eight weeks. The company believes it will have over 1 million subscribers by the end of the year.

Local sports rights have been a mess in recent years. Some NBA teams like the Pelicans and Suns abandoned FanDuel’s option to provide independent streamers and over-the-air broadcasts.
