Here’s How to Have a Hulu ‘Watch Party’ to Share a Movie or Show With Friends
Wish you could enjoy a movie night with friends or family who live far away? Hulu offers a cool feature called Watch Party that can sync up the experience so it’s almost like you’re in the room with your buddies. Here’s how it works.
$11.99/mo.
Watch Party works best on a computer. Log into your Hulu account in a web browser and select the show or movie you want to watch. It will need to have the little Watch Party icon. Hover over it and click.

Next, click Start The Party.

As the host, you’ll get a special link you can share with up to 7 friends. Copy the link, then send it to your guests.

In the upper right corner of your screen, you’ll see the number of people in the party, including you. When everyone is present, you can click Start Party.
Your show or movie will begin – completely synched with the screens of all your guests. If any members of your party have the ad-supported Hulu, you’ll have to wait through the commercial break before you can resume. (Ad-free Hulu users would just see a blank screen during the break.)
While the party is going on, you can chat with your guests using the text box. That’s it! Enjoy your watch party!
Note: Watch Party is only available for users 18 or older.
If you’d prefer to see your friend while watching a Hulu show, you can do so during FaceTime with a service called SharePlay. You just need iOS devices on both ends of the call. Here’s how to set that up.
