Letterboxd Launches Video Store for Online Movie Rentals
Letterboxd is already one of the top websites for movie lovers. It allow you to track the movies you’ve seen, rate them, and share recommendations with friends. Now the site has added an online movie rental portal.
Letterboxd plans to make its store different from mass providers like Apple or Amazon by focusing on curation. There are two primary sections: Unreleased Gems and Lost and Found.
Right now, each section has just 4 titles.
Unreleased Gems – “Must-see films caught between acclaim and availability. Only on Letterboxd Video Store.”
- It Ends (2025)
- The Mysterious Gaze Of The Flamingo (2025)
- Kennedy (2023)
- Sore: A Wife From the Future (2025)
Lost and Found – “Underseen underdogs with stellar star ratings”
- Tiger on the Beat (1988)
- Poison (1991)
- It Must Be Heaven (2019)
- Kisapmata (In the Wink of An Eye) (1981)
- Before We Vanish (2017)
Letterboxd says rental availability and cost will depend on your location. When I checked, rentals ran from $3.99-$9.99. For the Unreleased Gems, you have 48 hours to start watching and 48 hours to finish the film. For Lost and Found, you have 30 days from your rental to start watching, and a 48-hour window to enjoy the movie.
The films available on the platform will rotate and they’re only available for a limited time.
The Letterboxd rentals can be viewed with on the web, with Apple TV 4K, iOS, Android, and TV via Chromecast and Airplay. Additional Smart TV apps are in the works.
