Netflix Begins Rollout of New TV Layout and TikTok-like Mobile Feed
Expect Netflix to look a lot different in the next few days. Both the TV and mobile interfaces will be overhauled to help you discover more content to watch.
A Simpler TV Layout
Browsing on TV is going to get simpler as Netflix will show descriptions of shows beneath the thumbnail image. Netflix will also add more graphics on the thumbnails to alert you to popular titles, award winners, or recommendations for you.
Netflix will move its navigation menus to the top of the screen instead of the left rail where they’ve lived for several years.
Mobile Video Browsing

In the coming weeks, mobile users will see a feed with vertical video, similar to TikTok. The hope is that users will scroll the feed and discover new shows or movies they want to watch. These titles will be pulled from the “For You” feed.
Turning to AI
Netflix will roll out an AI-powered search feature starting with iOS. You’ll be able to ask more nuanced search terms like “I want a movie with a happy ending” or “show me something scary, but not too scary.”
Netflix has always been a leader in streaming user interfaces. We’ve seen most of its competitors simply follow their example, though Netflix does a better job understanding its users than all the other streamers. Simply serving up the same old homepage or dumping your latest content on the first screen isn’t enough anymore.
