Peacock Preps Vertical NBA Feed, AI Andy Cohen Recaps, New Mobile Games

Peacock is looking to increase engagement on its app with several new features on the way.

  • Real-time vertical cropping of NBA games for mobile viewing (spring)
  • An AI Andy Cohen avatar guiding you through personalized “Bravoverse” highlights (summer)
  • New mobile games based on “Jeopardy!” and “Law & Order” (spring)

$16.99/mo.

Given the staggering rise in vertical video consumption, Peacock will add a dedicated section for vertical video on its mobile app this summer.

This vertical video feature will appear prominently in NBA coverage under the “Courtside Live” section. Fans can navigate between multiple unique camera angles, alongside the main broadcast.ย Peacock will use AI to keep the ball centered in the action.

Fans of Bravo’s reality series may enjoy a new feature called “Bravoverse,” where an AI Andy Cohen avatar will guide you through the highs and lows of that channel’s popular franchises. When you open the section, you’ll select your preferred type of clips, and the app will comb through more than 5,000 hours of Bravo footage to spit out endless highlights. Here’s a taste of what’s to come.

Although NBCUniversal dumped nearly all its live, linear channels to a new company called Versant, it kept Bravo. Why? The fanbase is highly engaged. The company reports Bravo viewers on Peacock watch 92% more non-Bravo hours than the other Peacock users.

Law & Order game on Peacock app

Peacock is also turning to games to keep you on the app. Law & Order:ย Clue Hunterย asks players to find hidden objects to help identify the suspects and solve a mystery.

Public Eye will be an interactive experience that combines narrative, episodic storytelling with original characters and gameplay. Players must uncover clues to solve a mystery.

Users will also get to play a Jeopardy!ย miniโ€‘game, offering daily trivia rounds written by the team behind the classic quiz show.

More streamers are adding these kinds of features to keep you engaged on the app, hoping you won’t leave and get sucked into social media, YouTube, or Netflix.
