Report: 29 Pro Sports Teams May Go Streaming-Only on Victory+, Dealing Blow to Fubo and DIRECTV

The disastrous financial situation at FanDuel Sports Network could force 29 sports teams to abandon traditional TV altogether. According to Sports Business Journal, the teams connected to FanDuel may all head to Victory+. That’s the streaming outlet that carries games for the Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Anaheim Ducks.

From SBJ: โ€œItโ€™s so sad to see this come to this position,โ€ said Neil Gruninger, President & CEO of A Parent Media Co. (APMC), which operates Victory+. โ€œ[Teams are] kind of in this holding pattern. โ€ฆ But, if all fell through, we would absolutely be delighted to take on as many teams as we can to ensure that fans have their games.โ€

Historically, teams that have made their games free over-the-air or through streaming have seen increased viewership and higher sales of tickets and merchandise. But some teams prefer the guaranteed money of a TV deal with a premium provider.

What FanDuel Sports Network Teams May Need a New Home?

While European sports streamer DAZN is trying to rescue FanDuel’s parent company (Main Street Sports Group), if that deal falls through, there’s a large roster of teams that will need a new broadcast partner.

How Can You Watch Victory+?

Victory+ is not available through any live TV streaming service. It’s a standalone streaming service of its own. This would be a huge blow to providers like Fubo and DIRECTV, which rely on their large selection of regional sports channels as a key advantage over providers like YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV.

If these teams jump to Victory+, it would also cause a headache for anyone who wants all their live TV options in one app.

What Does Victory+ Cost?

While the Ducks and Kings provide their games for free, Rangers fans are only able to access games with a season pass. Last year, the Rangers were available for a $100/season fee through March, then the price increased to $140/season. 2026 season pricing will be announced in February.

Ultimately, each MLB, NHL, and NBA team would be able to set their own prices. It’s possible you could see bundle options for cities like Detroit where all 3 teams are up for grabs.
