Returning NFL Sunday Ticket Subscribers Must Pay $100 More Than New Subscribers

If you want to watch out-of-market NFL games, NFL Sunday Ticket is the only game in town. But YouTube TV’s newly announced pricing may as well be flagged for unnecessary roughness. If you’ve previously had Sunday Ticket, your price is $100 higher than what you’d pay as a new subscriber.

Even crazier, new subscribers will pay the same amount for Sunday Ticket whether they bundle it with YouTube TV or choose a standalone subscription with regular YouTube.

A member of the YouTube TV team posted this pricing to Reddit.

This is ridiculous, but par for the course with YouTube TV and Sunday Ticket. Morgan Stanley estimates YouTube TV loses $1.27 billion per year on Sunday Ticket, so they’re obviously trying to shore up their losses. That price is nuts, though. And it’s a kick in the teeth for returning subscribers who have to pay more for their loyalty.

Instead of paying for NFL Sunday Ticket, I have a couple of suggestions:

Just get NFL RedZone. It’s available on most live TV streamers or you can watch it with NFL+ for $14.99/month.

NFL RedZone gives you whip-around coverage of every game in the league for 7 straight hours. You don’t have to sit through time-outs or halftime or injuries or endless replay delays. Host Scott Hanson guides you through all the best action. If you have a fantasy football team, it’s the best way to spend Sunday.

Another option is to take the money you’d spend on Sunday Ticket and hit the sports bar with your friends. Enjoy some chicken wings and beer and have fun.

Are There Any Discounts for NFL Sunday Ticket?

Students can watch the full season for $119 or $129 with NFL RedZone.

Military & Veterans, First Responders, Nurses, and Teachers can get the full season for $198 ($208 with NFL RedZone). That option will be available “in the next few days.”
