Smaller ‘Fubo Sports’ Streamer Launches Sept. 2 With 20+ Channels and ESPN Unlimited, But No NBC
The sports streaming race just got another competitor. Fubo Sports will launch on Sept. 2 at a friendly price point of $55.99/month. Users will get $10 off their first month.
Fubo Sports will have 20+ sports and broadcast networks. It will only be available in certain markets to start, but Fubo expects to roll it out more widely over time.

What Channels Will Be Included in Fubo Sports?

The full channel list is not yet available, but Fubo says it will have local broadcast stations owned-and-operated by ABC, CBS and FOX plus additional affiliates in select markets as well as ACC Network, Big 10 Network, CBS Sports Network, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPNU, Fox News, FS1, FS2, Fubo Sports Network, ION, NFL Network, SEC Network, and Tennis Channel with some network 4K content also available.
Some red flags for sports fans: this initial list does not include NBC, USA Network, or NFL RedZone. TNT and TBS are not listed, but Fubo has a longstanding feud with those channels’ parent company, WarnerBros. Discovery.
Fubo reports customers in “select markets” will also receive local broadcast sports channels. We’re not sure what that means.
This package will include access to the newly-launched ESPN Unlimited.
Streaming Smarter has requested clarification on which markets and affiliates will be available at launch. Fubo’s PR team has not yet responded.
What Features Will Fubo Sports Have?
Fubo reports Fubo Sports users will have access to features like Multiview, Catch Up to Live, Game Highlights, Timeline Markers, and more.
Fubo Sports will include VOD, Unlimited DVR and Family Share.
Should You Sign Up for Fubo Sports?
We’ll need to see the full channel list and location availability before we can make that call, but the lineup is tempting. A lack of NFL RedZone could be a dealbreaker for some fans. I expect there won’t be an option for regional sports networks since those are on the Fubo Pro and Elite plans.
The closest competitor to this package may be DIRECTV‘s MySports package for $69.99. But that sports bundle includes all 4 major networks along with the top 3 cable news channels: Fox News Channel, MSNBC, and CNN.
Ultimately, combining Fubo Sports with Peacock Premium Plus for live NBC ($16.99) would give you an excellent overall sports lineup. When we get the full channel list, we’ll see how the value shakes out.
