YouTube TV Signs Long-Term Deal with NBC, But No Agreement with Univision

YouTube TV subscribers will continue to have access to NBC and its affiliated cable channels. The two sides signed a long-term agreement today. But Univision is still dark after the streaming service dropped the channel.

The Future of NBC on YouTube TV

While we don’t know the length of the deal, this agreement likely locks in a carriage plan for the next 3-5 years. YouTube TV will continue to carry NBC and Bravo, along with the soon-to-be-spun-off Versant channels like CNBC, Golf Channel, E!, Oxygen True Crime, MSNBC, USA, Syfy, Telemundo and Universo.

YouTube TV will also carry the newly relaunched NBC Sports Network when it debuts in the next few weeks. NBCSN previously shut down in 2021.

As part of the deal, Peacock will be available as an add-on within the YouTube TV ecosystem.

Still No Deal for Univision

While the Telemundo and Universo deal is important, Spanish-language viewers are still stuck without Univision. YouTube TV dropped that channel, along with UniMas, TUDN, Galavision, FOROtv, De Pelรญcula, De Pelรญcula Clรกsico, Bandamax, Telehit, Telehit Mรบsica and tlnovelas.

Univision is the biggest Spanish-language broadcaster in the U.S., with 59 owned and/or operated stations.

It sounds like those channels won’t be coming back anytime soon. A YouTube spokesperson said the channels represent a “tiny fraction of overall consumption.”

The spokesperson suggested viewers can still enjoy the content on the company’s YouTube channels or their streaming platform, ViX.
