YouTube TV Won’t Offer NBA League Pass This Year

If you were counting on YouTube TV to be your NBA League Pass provider this year, it’s time to make another choice. The service sent out this email to its subscribers.

We know live sports are a key part of your YouTube TV experience, so we wanted to give you a heads up about an upcoming change to your NBA League Pass subscription. The NBA has signed a new agreement with Amazon to be the exclusive channel store of NBA League Pass, which means this service will no longer be available on YouTube TV starting September 30, 2025.

At that time, your NBA League Pass subscription will be canceled automatically, and you will no longer be charged for this add-on. If you are a monthly subscriber, you will receive a refund for your last payment.

In fact, if you look through YouTube TV’s available add-ons, NBA League Pass is not listed at all right now.

If you’d like to sign up for NBA League Pass, it’s available via Prime Video.

What Is NBA League Pass?

If you want to watch basketball games that are not broadscast nationally or in your local area, NBA League Pass is your solution.

For example, if you’re a Lakers fan, you may see nationally televised games on ESPN, ABC, NBC, Peacock, or NBA TV. When they play at home, you may see the Lakers on Spectrum SportsNet. But when the Lakers are away from home, and not nationally televised, NBA League Pass will have the game.

Even better, you can see every team’s out-of-market games! That’s hundreds of games you’ll be able to see over the course of the season.

What Does NBA League Pass Cost?

To follow just one team, the Team Pass option is $13.99/month.

The better option is League Pass, so you can see every team’s out-of-market games. That’s just $16.99.

The top tier option is NBA League Pass Premium, which is $24.99. That gives you commercial-free games (you’ll usually see in-arena entertainment instead) and the ability to stream on 3 devices at once. The Premium tier also allows downloads for offline viewing. This version is not available through Prime Video, so you have to order directly from the league.

Is NBA League Pass Worth It?

For casual fans, I think the money is better spent on a traditional live TV provider. Or you could just choose ESPN Unlimited and Peacock, which gives you a strong NBA lineup overall.

Remember, this year, some things have changed. NBC/Peacock will have up to 100 games, Prime Video will have 66 games, ABC will have more than 20 games and ESPN will get up to 60 games. That’s a lot of basketball without adding even more services.

For hardcore fans, the question is whether you want to watch local games, away games, or both.

To watch your team locally, you may need a FanDuel Sports Network affiliate or some other provider; every team is different. A handful of teams even broadcast games you can receive free with an antenna.

To watch your team’s away games, NBA League Pass is a perfectly fine option. But adding all of this up does get to be expensive. So it’s a question of how much basketball you need to see.
